Pretty in pink

Pretty in pink, 150cm x 200cm, Acrylic, Sewing, Charcoal,  October/ November 2023

Pretty in Pink is an expansion of the concept behind my prior piece, Puppy Fat. By employing my painting skills, I have abstractly rendered the figures in this composition. Furthermore, I included charcoal and stitching techniques. Rapidly performed by machine, the stitching produces a gestural, expressive texture.

By eliminating the conventional stretcher bar, my intention is to challenge and transcend the recognised constraints and limitations of painting as an artistic medium. This metamorphosis reflects the unorthodox characteristics of the photographic session. The lack of a suspension bar emphasises the malleability of art and its potential to redefine aesthetics.
