Why are you staring at my fat? Installation, fabric, sculpture, materials, xxx, December - January 2023/2024

Video piece showing the idea of movement through the body
For this installation, I have brought my work off the walls, constructing stands and hanging methods to invite the viewer to actively engage. Thoughtfully pairing pieces with related imagery and themes, I play with sculpture to unify them into a cohesive environment.
Though created under the strain of competing demands, I put care into considered color palettes and compositions. The viewer must move their body, looking up, down and all around to fully appreciate the components as a unified whole.
Fabrics suggestive of gentle motion evoke ideas of breathing and movement within the gallery space. Stepping back reveals the works as one living, breathing entity.
The installation also presents an almost finished narrative around the concept of "puppy fat" using meat forms. Titled "Why Are You Staring at My Fat?" it playfully reclaims a personal coming-of-age story with provocative humor. Influenced by the audacious approaches of artists like Pussy Riot and Sarah Lucas, I embrace the idea of humour and unconcentional ideas on recaliming.
By bringing my works off the wall, I invite you to traverse an environment where art extends beyond the frame. Moving through the space, discover new perspectives and connections between each meticulously composed element.
