Tentacular stems from an exploratory project during my level 6 studies. I took inspiration from the idea of intertwining, wrapping, and folding techniques to create a piece with a "tentacular" form. Using a raw, organic color palette, I learned new skills like crochet while developing this complex, textile sculpture. The repetitive pattern of intertwined fabrics represents continuity and evolution, ideas that resonate with the concept of "Tentacular thinking" proposed by theorists like Donna Haraway. A solitary blue strand woven throughout the piece symbolizes the development and change within my art practice, creating connections between past and present works. Materials like expanding foam add a bodily layer, alluding to the flexibility and mutability of the human form. This invites viewers to consider their own embodied existence within a world in flux. The manipulation of textures and materials seeks to enhance the physical, and sensory experience of engaging with the work.
